The sulfuric springs at Yellowstone National Park come in charming pastels that look like they belong on the walls of a baby’s bedroom rather than in a scalding acidic spring.

The springs appear shallow and inviting, but the temperature of the water ranges from a cool 50 °C (122 °F) to a milder 237 °C (456 °F).
